Next-Gen Hyundai Creta Gets a Bolder Design

Hyundai is working on the next-generation Creta, and the upcoming SUV has once again been spotted during testing. The latest test vehicle provides a clearer look at the design direction of the new-generation model, which is expected to receive a more upright and boxy appearance compared with the current Creta.

The third-generation Creta is expected to bring a major design and technology update as Hyundai looks to strengthen its position in India's competitive mid-size SUV segment.

More Upright and Boxy Styling

The biggest change visible from the latest spy shots is the overall silhouette. The new Creta appears more upright and squared-off than the current model. The design is expected to give the SUV a stronger road presence while also creating more usable cabin space.

The front section appears to have a more upright profile, while the side design features sharper surfaces and a more angular glass area. Earlier test vehicles have also been spotted with larger wheels, including 18-inch units.

The upcoming SUV is expected to feature a redesigned front fascia with a wider grille, slimmer lighting elements and a new headlamp arrangement. The rear is also expected to receive redesigned LED tail-lamps and a new tailgate design.

New Platform and Larger Dimensions

The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to move to Hyundai's newer K3 platform. The same architecture is also expected to underpin the next-generation Kia Seltos.

The new platform could allow Hyundai to increase the Creta's overall dimensions and wheelbase. This could result in additional cabin space while also improving structural rigidity, refinement and safety.

Hybrid Powertrain Expected

One of the biggest changes expected with the new Creta is the introduction of a strong-hybrid powertrain.

The SUV is expected to continue with petrol and diesel engine options, while the hybrid version could combine a naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack. However, Hyundai has not yet officially confirmed the final engine specifications or hybrid details.

The hybrid technology could help the Creta deliver improved fuel efficiency and compete with other hybrid SUVs in the Indian market.

More Technology Inside

The next-generation Creta is also expected to receive a significantly updated cabin. Reports suggest that Hyundai could introduce its newer Pleos-based connected infotainment technology, along with over-the-air updates and enhanced connected features.

Advanced driver assistance systems are also expected to remain an important part of the new model, with the possibility of upgraded Level 2 ADAS functionality.

India Launch Expected in 2027

The third-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to make its India debut in 2027. Hyundai has not yet announced an official launch date, pricing or complete specifications.

Once launched, the new Creta will continue to compete in India's mid-size SUV segment against models such as the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra and other upcoming rivals.

For now, the latest test sightings indicate that Hyundai is moving ahead with development of a larger, boxier and more technologically advanced Creta for the next generation.
