Skoda Auto has officially unveiled the fourth-generation Superb for the Indian market, marking the return of its flagship executive sedan to India. The new Superb was showcased in Mumbai alongside the unveiling of the updated Skoda Slavia. The India-spec model is scheduled to go on sale by mid-2027.
One of the biggest highlights of the new Superb is the return of a diesel engine to Skoda’s India lineup. The move could also indicate the possibility of a diesel-powered Kodiaq making a comeback in the future.
Unlike the Superb showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the India-spec model will not feature an all-wheel-drive system. Instead, the fourth-generation Superb coming to India will be offered with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout.
Power will come from a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine producing around 147 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, with no other gearbox option expected at launch.
Skoda will initially bring the new Superb to India through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. However, the company could consider local assembly in the future depending on customer response and demand.

The fourth-generation Skoda Superb continues the model’s reputation for understated elegance, while introducing several contemporary design elements.
At the front, the sedan gets LED Matrix headlights and Skoda’s latest interpretation of its signature butterfly grille. The front bumper features subtle chrome detailing, while the sculpted bonnet adds a more premium appearance.
The side profile features sharp character lines that give the sedan a sophisticated look. At the rear, the Superb gets modern LED tail lamps with a distinctive C-shaped lighting signature, further enhancing its road presence.
The cabin of the new Superb shares several components and design elements with the latest Skoda Kodiaq. The India-spec model will feature a Cognac-coloured leather interior, giving the cabin an executive and premium feel.
Skoda has also focused heavily on improving passenger comfort and refinement. The cabin uses extensive noise-insulation materials and a greater amount of soft-touch surfaces. Even the rear door pockets receive felt lining for a more premium experience.
Rear passengers will benefit from a dedicated climate-control zone, rear sunblinds and a Sleep Package. A through-loading facility is also available behind the rear centre armrest.
Interestingly, the India-spec Superb will not get a sunroof, although Skoda appears to have prioritised comfort and practicality over this feature.
The new Superb will come equipped with a comprehensive list of technology and safety features. Key highlights include:
The front seats are designed to provide a high level of comfort, offering heating, ventilation and massage functions, along with electric adjustment and three memory settings.
The return of the diesel engine is arguably the most significant aspect of the fourth-generation Superb's India debut. Skoda had previously discontinued its diesel-powered passenger cars in India, making the new Superb an important development for buyers who still prefer diesel power.
The move could also have wider implications for Skoda's India portfolio. If the Superb receives a positive response with its diesel powertrain, the company could potentially consider introducing a diesel-powered Kodiaq in the future.
With its spacious cabin, premium equipment, diesel engine and executive-sedan positioning, the fourth-generation Superb is expected to target buyers looking for a comfortable and feature-rich luxury sedan when it arrives in India in mid-2027.
