2026 Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 Base Variant: Features, Design and Equipment Explained

Mahindra car has introduced the 2026 Scorpio N facelift with prices ranging from ₹13.69 lakh to ₹25.49 lakh (ex-showroom). While the higher variants receive several premium upgrades, the entry-level Z2 focuses more on essential equipment and affordability.

The top-spec versions come with features such as a panoramic skyroof, Sony 12-speaker audio system, 540-degree surround-view camera with blind-view monitoring and Level 2 ADAS. In comparison, the Z2 is aimed at buyers who want the Scorpio N's rugged SUV appeal without paying for the additional premium features.

2026 Scorpio N Z2: Engine and Transmission

The Z2 variant is offered with two engine choices:

  • 2.0-litre turbo-petrol
  • 2.2-litre diesel

Both engine options in the Z2 are paired with a manual transmission.

The petrol-powered Z2 starts at ₹13.69 lakh, while the diesel version carries a starting price of ₹14.19 lakh.

Exterior Design and Features

The entry-level Z2 retains the familiar exterior design of the Scorpio N, with no significant styling changes compared with the previous model.

At the front, the SUV features a matte-black grille with gloss-black slats and conventional halogen headlamps. LED projector headlights are reserved for higher variants.

The Z2 does not receive several exterior additions available on higher trims, including:

  • Chrome exterior accents
  • Front camera
  • Front parking sensors
  • Front fog lamps

The SUV rides on 17-inch silver steel wheels with 245-section tyres. Unlike some other entry-level SUVs, the Z2 does not get wheel covers.

The black treatment continues across several exterior elements, including the wheel-arch cladding, door handles, ORVMs and B- and C-pillars. The window surrounds also remain free from chrome detailing, giving the base variant a more rugged appearance.

Rear Design

At the rear, the Scorpio N Z2 comes equipped with LED tail lamps and two reverse parking sensors.

However, the entry-level version misses several features offered on higher variants, including:

  • Matrix-style turn indicators
  • Reverse parking camera
  • Rear washer and wiper
  • Rear defogger
  • Roof-mounted spoiler

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Z2 gets a practical cabin with a black-and-brown interior theme.

The dashboard features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a semi-digital instrument cluster featuring a 4.2-inch monochrome MID.

Connectivity equipment includes a Type-A USB port, while the more modern Type-C ports offered on higher variants are not available on the base trim.

Other interior highlights include:

  • Fabric seat upholstery
  • Power windows for all four doors
  • Manually adjustable ORVMs
  • Steering-mounted audio controls
  • Engine start/stop button
  • Second-row AC vents

Cruise control is not available on the Z2 variant.

Safety Equipment

Despite being the entry-level version, the Scorpio N Z2 comes with a useful set of standard safety features.

The safety package includes:

  • Dual front airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill Hold Control
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Ventilated disc brakes

However, some advanced safety and convenience equipment is reserved for higher variants. These include side and curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, driver drowsiness detection, an auto-dimming IRVM and an electronic parking brake.

2026 Scorpio N Z2: A Practical Entry Point

The 2026 Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 may not offer the premium equipment found on the higher trims, but it covers the essential features expected from a modern SUV. Its combination of a rugged design, two engine options, manual transmission and basic safety equipment makes it a practical choice for buyers looking to enter the Scorpio N range at a lower price.

For customers who prioritise the SUV's design, space and core functionality over luxury features, the Z2 remains a value-focused option in the updated Scorpio N lineup
