Sales increased 7.75% year-on-year from 1,24,328 units in September 2025. 350cc Range Drives September Growth

The biggest contributor to Royal Enfield's September performance was its up-to-350cc and EV category, which recorded 1,21,495 units during the month.

This represents a 13.04% increase over 1,07,478 units sold in September 2025. The category accounted for approximately 91% of Royal Enfield's total September volume.

The company's popular 350cc family includes motorcycles such as the Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350. These models continue to form the core of Royal Enfield's business in India.

The strong performance of this category helped offset weaker volumes from the company's larger motorcycles.

Bigger Motorcycles See a Decline

While the smaller-capacity range performed strongly, motorcycles above 350cc recorded a significant decline during September.

Sales in this category stood at 12,463 units, compared with 16,850 units in September 2025. This represents a 26.04% year-on-year decline.

The category includes Royal Enfield's larger motorcycles such as the Himalayan, Scram, Guerrilla, Super Meteor, Shotgun and 650 Twin models.

Despite the decline, the larger motorcycles remain an important part of Royal Enfield's premium product strategy and international portfolio.

Domestic Sales Cross 1.21 Lakh

Royal Enfield's domestic business remained the primary source of September volumes.

The company sold 1,21,326 motorcycles in India, compared with 1,13,573 units in September 2025. Domestic sales therefore increased by 6.83% year-on-year.

Compared with August 2026, domestic sales also improved. August volumes stood at 1,14,204 units, meaning September sales increased by more than 7,000 motorcycles sequentially.

The stronger domestic performance comes ahead of the key festive period, when two-wheeler demand traditionally receives additional support.

Exports Grow 17%

Royal Enfield's international business delivered even stronger percentage growth during September.

Exports increased 17.45% to 12,632 units, compared with 10,755 motorcycles in September 2025.

Although exports account for a smaller portion of the company's overall monthly volumes than domestic sales, the improvement provides an additional source of growth for Royal Enfield.

The company has been expanding its international presence across multiple markets, particularly in regions where mid-size motorcycles have a growing customer base.

Q3 Sales Rise 16%

Royal Enfield's strong September performance also helped lift its sales for the July-September quarter.

During Q3 2026, the company sold 3,78,669 motorcycles, compared with 3,26,375 units during the same quarter of 2025. This represents a 16.02% increase.

Domestic sales during the quarter reached 3,40,847 units, while exports stood at 37,822 units. Domestic volumes grew 16.45%, while exports increased 12.32%.

First-Half FY2027 Sales Cross 7 Lakh

Royal Enfield also recorded strong cumulative growth during the first half of FY2026-27.

Between April and September 2026, total sales reached 7,09,096 motorcycles, compared with 5,91,903 units during the corresponding period of the previous year. This represents a 19.80% increase.

Domestic sales rose 23.11% to 6,42,021 units, while exports stood at 67,075 units.

The cumulative numbers show that Royal Enfield's growth during 2026 has been largely driven by its domestic business and the up-to-350cc portfolio.

New Products Add to the Lineup

Royal Enfield has continued to expand its product range during 2026. The company introduced the Himalayan 440, while the Classic 350 range also received a new Signature White variant.

The Himalayan 440 has reportedly generated strong customer interest, with bookings reaching a level that resulted in a reported six-month booking pipeline. Production is being increased to meet demand.

The company is also developing its electric motorcycle strategy under the Flying Flea brand, giving Royal Enfield an entry into the emerging premium electric two-wheeler space.

What Drove Royal Enfield's September Performance?

Royal Enfield's September numbers highlight a clear difference between its core and larger motorcycle categories.

The up-to-350cc range delivered double-digit growth and generated the vast majority of monthly sales. Meanwhile, motorcycles above 350cc experienced a decline.

This means the company's overall 7.75% growth was primarily achieved through higher volumes from its core motorcycle portfolio rather than from its larger-capacity models.

The performance also came as the company prepared for the festive season, with production, inventory and dealer-channel readiness being important factors for upcoming demand.

Royal Enfield Sales Outlook

Royal Enfield enters the final months of 2026 with a strong sales base. The company has crossed 7 lakh motorcycles in cumulative April-September sales, while September itself produced a new monthly record.

The 350cc family continues to be the company's volume engine, while newer products such as the Himalayan 440 are helping expand its presence into other segments.

At the same time, the decline in motorcycles above 350cc will remain an area to watch. Royal Enfield's ability to balance its high-volume 350cc range with its premium and larger motorcycles will be important as competition increases across India's mid-size motorcycle market.

For September 2026, however, the headline figure remains strong: Royal Enfield sold 1,33,958 motorcycles, marking its highest-ever September sales performance.
