Aprilia bikes has expanded its scooter range in India with the launch of the new SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175. The two new scooters bring together Aprilia's sporty Italian styling with a larger, more touring-oriented design aimed at both urban commuting and longer rides.
The new SXR GT range is positioned for customers who want more than a conventional city scooter. Aprilia has focused on a combination of style, comfort, performance, technology and long-distance usability.
The SXR GT 125 starts at around ₹1.11 lakh, while the more powerful SXR GT 175 is positioned higher in the range. Both scooters feature distinctive maxi-scooter styling, LED lighting and automatic transmissions.
The new SXR GT range is designed around the idea of making everyday scooter use more versatile.
Aprilia says the scooters are intended to work for city commuting while also being suitable for longer weekend journeys. The larger bodywork, comfortable riding position and open footboard are part of this approach.
The design carries clear Aprilia styling cues, particularly around the front lighting and sharp body panels.
The new range is available with two petrol engine options.
The SXR GT 125 gets a 124.45cc single-cylinder engine producing 7.8 kW at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm at 6,200 rpm.
The larger SXR GT 175 uses a 174.7cc single-cylinder engine developing 9.76 kW at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Both engines use electronic fuel injection and are paired with automatic CVT transmissions.
The 175cc version is therefore aimed at buyers who want stronger acceleration and additional performance, particularly when riding with a passenger or travelling on faster roads.
The SXR GT models use a large and distinctive scooter body.
At the front, Aprilia's signature LED lighting gives the scooters a recognisable appearance. The design also incorporates a substantial front fairing and wind protection, helping the SXR GT look more like a compact maxi-scooter than a conventional commuter scooter.
The larger body is also intended to provide a comfortable riding position for longer journeys.
Both SXR GT variants use 14-inch wheels.
The larger wheel setup can help provide greater stability over uneven roads compared with smaller scooter wheels. This is particularly relevant for a scooter that is designed to be used beyond congested city streets.
The chassis and riding position are intended to make the SXR GT suitable for both everyday urban use and longer-distance travel.
One of the major differences between the two versions is their instrumentation and connectivity.
The SXR GT 175 gets a 5-inch TFT instrument display, along with handlebar controls and Bluetooth connectivity.
It supports functions including music management, call management and turn-by-turn navigation. This gives the larger SXR GT a more technology-focused cabin compared with the 125cc version.
The SXR GT 125, meanwhile, gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster.
This differentiation allows Aprilia to position the 175cc version as the more premium model within the new range.
The SXR GT 125 uses a 220mm front disc brake and 140mm rear drum brake.
The SXR GT 175 gets single-channel ABS on the front wheel, adding an additional layer of braking assistance.
The 175cc model's stronger specification matches its higher performance output.
Six Colour Options Across the Range
Aprilia is offering a total of six colour choices across the two SXR GT models.

Glossy Azzurro
Glossy White
SXR GT 175 Colours

The colour palette gives the 125cc version a more urban appearance, while the 175cc model gets more premium and darker finishes.
Aprilia is positioning the SXR GT as a scooter that can handle more than short urban journeys.
The combination of a larger body, comfortable seating position, open footboard and substantial front fairing is aimed at improving usability on longer rides.
This approach could make the SXR GT particularly interesting for riders who want the convenience of a scooter but also regularly travel between cities or take weekend trips.
Aprilia is also offering a range of accessories for the new SXR GT family.
Available options include a manually adjustable windshield, perimeter protection kit and rear top box. These accessories can make the scooter more suitable for riders who plan to use it for touring or carrying additional luggage.
The top box, in particular, adds additional carrying capacity for longer journeys.
