BMW is preparing to introduce its updated flagship sedan in India, with the 2027 BMW 7 Series and all-electric i7 scheduled to launch on September 11, 2026. Bookings for the new models have already opened in India, giving customers an opportunity to reserve BMW's latest flagship ahead of its market introduction.

The 2027 BMW 7 Series made its global debut in April 2026 and brings styling revisions, a significantly updated cabin and new-generation technology. For the Indian market, BMW will offer the flagship in both internal-combustion engine (ICE) and electric i7 forms.

BMW 7 Series India Launch and Bookings

BMW India has confirmed September 11, 2026 as the launch date for the updated 7 Series and i7. Bookings commenced on August 1, 2026, through authorised BMW dealerships.

Once launched, the flagship sedan will continue to compete against premium luxury models such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8.

In the US market, the 2027 BMW 7 Series starts at approximately USD 107,750, equivalent to around ₹1.01 crore based on current conversion rates. Indian prices will be announced closer to the launch.

Updated Exterior Design

The 2027 7 Series receives a noticeable styling revision while retaining the overall proportions of the current-generation sedan.

The front-end changes include vertically oriented headlights, slimmer LED daytime running lights and a more prominent illuminated kidney grille. The bumper has also been redesigned, with more body-coloured surfaces and fewer contrasting black elements.

BMW has incorporated elements inspired by its Neue Klasse design language, particularly around the lighting and detailing. The rear-end design also gets updated tail lamps influenced by BMW's newer design philosophy.

Major Interior Technology Upgrade

The cabin of the updated 7 Series receives a more substantial technology overhaul. One of the biggest additions is BMW's Panoramic iDrive display, which stretches across a large portion of the dashboard and integrates multiple functions alongside the digital instrument cluster.

Other major cabin highlights include:

  • 17.9-inch central infotainment display
  • 14.6-inch co-driver display
  • BMW Panoramic iDrive
  • 31.8-inch 8K rear entertainment display
  • Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system
  • Updated steering wheel design
  • Premium interior materials
  • More advanced driver-assistance technology
  • Reduced wiring harness weight
  • Increased computing capability

BMW says the new electronic architecture delivers significantly greater computing power while reducing the amount of wiring used in the vehicle.

ICE and Electric Powertrains for India

BMW has not yet confirmed the exact engine specifications for the Indian-market 7 Series. However, the company has confirmed that both ICE and electric versions will be available, with the latter sold as the BMW i7.

Globally, the 2027 7 Series range includes the 740 and 740 xDrive, which use a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. BMW could also introduce higher-performance electrified and V8-powered versions in selected markets.

The range-topping i7 60 xDrive is claimed to offer up to 563 km of range and can accelerate from 0–97 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

BMW is expected to reveal the exact India-spec powertrain, battery specifications, equipment and pricing at the time of the launch.
