BMW is celebrating the Nürburgring's 100th anniversary with a special collection of high-performance cars, and the BMW M3 Touring and BMW M5 Touring are among the most distinctive models in the line-up.
Called the 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition, the special series combines BMW M's performance-focused engineering with exclusive styling inspired by the legendary German circuit. The collection includes six BMW M cars — the M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan and M5 Touring. Three BMW Motorrad models are also part of the anniversary programme.
The Nürburgring's centenary will be celebrated in 2027, while BMW has opened ordering for several of the special-edition cars from September 2026.
The Nürburgring has played an important role in the development and testing of BMW M vehicles for decades. The new anniversary editions are designed to highlight that connection between racetrack development and road-going performance.
The most obvious visual change is the exclusive Nürburgring Green paint finish developed for the edition.
BMW has also offered Black Sapphire metallic as an alternative exterior colour for the cars, allowing buyers to choose a more understated appearance while retaining the special-edition details.
The vehicles receive anniversary-specific graphics, the Nürburgring silhouette and the “Nürburgring since 1927” theme, along with the 100 Years anniversary identity.
The BMW M3 Touring 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition is particularly interesting because it combines the performance character of the M3 with the practicality of a Touring body style.
Instead of choosing between a high-performance sports car and a useful family-oriented wagon, the M3 Touring brings the two ideas together.
BMW describes the M3 Touring as a combination of driving dynamics and everyday versatility. The anniversary version adds special exterior graphics, Nürburgring-inspired detailing and exclusive wheel accents.
The Touring's conventional roof also allows the anniversary stripes to be incorporated across the steel roof, giving it a distinct appearance compared with the M3 Sedan.
The BMW M5 Touring 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition takes the concept further by combining the Touring body with BMW M's M HYBRID powertrain.
The M5 Touring uses a high-performance V8-based hybrid system, giving it the ability to combine strong combustion-engine performance with electric assistance.
BMW quotes an electric driving range of around 60km for the M5 Touring under its applicable test cycle. The official figures also list weighted combined energy consumption of 18.1kWh/100km and fuel consumption of 5.5 litres/100km, with 11.0 litres/100km listed when the battery is depleted.
The anniversary version retains the M5 Touring's emphasis on combining performance with everyday versatility.
The Nürburgring Green paint is only one part of the visual package.
The cars receive model-specific graphics across areas such as the front doors, C-pillars, rear sections and tailgate. The design incorporates the Nürburgring silhouette and anniversary branding.
The M3 Touring gets 826 M light-alloy wheels with Nürburgring Green accents, while the M5 Touring receives its own edition-specific wheel and trim treatment.
The roof graphics are another important element. Unlike the M3 Sedan and several other M models that use carbon-fibre roofs, the Touring models retain their steel roofs and receive the special anniversary stripe design across them.
BMW has also carried the Nürburgring theme into the cabin.
The interior follows a predominantly black theme with contrasting green and white stitching. The front headrests feature an embroidered Nürburgring silhouette, while the centre console receives the 100 Years anniversary logo.
The M3 Touring gets an M Alcantara steering wheel with contrasting stitching and a white 12-o'clock marker. The M5 Touring uses an M leather steering wheel with corresponding anniversary detailing.
These changes are primarily focused on creating a special-edition atmosphere rather than dramatically changing the basic cabin architecture.

The anniversary models are not simply visual packages.
BMW says its inline-six-cylinder M models — including the M3 — receive BMW M Ignite, a pre-chamber ignition technology. According to BMW, the system is intended to improve efficiency under high-load conditions, reduce consumption during racetrack use and support Euro 7 requirements without reducing performance.
This technology is presented as an example of how BMW transfers lessons from motorsport and high-load testing into production vehicles.
The M5 Touring follows a different technical route with its M HYBRID system, combining a V8 engine with electric drive.
The 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition has been officially announced by BMW M, and BMW says the M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan and M5 Touring became available to order from September 2026.
However, BMW's current global announcement does not provide India-specific pricing, allocation numbers or delivery timelines for the M3 Touring or M5 Touring special editions. Therefore, Indian availability and pricing should be treated as unconfirmed until BMW's India operation announces them.
This distinction is important because the global edition's availability does not automatically mean that every model or specification will be offered in every market.
The 100 Jahre Nürburgring collection is ultimately a celebration of BMW M's relationship with one of the world's most demanding circuits.
For the M3 Touring, the anniversary edition brings together high-performance driving and everyday practicality. For the M5 Touring, the formula combines a versatile estate body with BMW's latest high-performance hybrid technology.
Both cars also demonstrate how BMW can use a special-edition design package to connect modern production models with its motorsport heritage.
The BMW M3 Touring and M5 Touring 100 Jahre Nürburgring Editions stand out because they combine practicality with performance while carrying a strong visual connection to the famous German circuit.
Exclusive Nürburgring Green paint, anniversary graphics, special wheels, unique interior detailing and Nürburgring-inspired branding distinguish the editions from their standard counterparts.
For India, the key question is now market-specific availability. BMW has confirmed the global anniversary programme and September 2026 ordering for the M3 Touring and M5 Touring, but India-specific pricing and allocations remain to be announced.
