The June 2026 electric car sales data highlights a rapidly expanding Indian EV market, with overall sales more than doubling (107.75% YoY) to 31,823 units. Tata retained its leadership with a 38.3% market share, while Mahindra strengthened its position as the fastest-growing major competitor. The entry of Maruti and VinFast, along with strong growth from premium brands, reflects increasing competition and broader consumer adoption of electric vehicles. Despite the market's exceptional growth, Hyundai and Citroen experienced declining sales, underscoring the need for manufacturers to continuously innovate in an increasingly competitive EV landscape.
