BMW car has updated its flagship electric luxury sedan with the 2026 i7 facelift, bringing revised styling, a significantly redesigned cabin, upgraded electric powertrain technology and more range. The facelifted BMW i7 was launched in India on September 11, 2026.
The new BMW i7 is available in India in two versions: i7 50 xDrive M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive. Prices start at ₹1.95 crore, while the performance-focused M70 is priced at ₹2.65 crore (ex-showroom). The i7 50 xDrive is locally assembled at BMW Group's Chennai plant, while the M70 xDrive is imported as a completely built-up unit.

The 2026 BMW i7 retains its distinctive flagship sedan proportions but receives several styling changes. The front end now features a more squared-off illuminated kidney grille, redesigned LED headlamps and a revised bumper.
The facelift also gets updated alloy wheels and revised rear styling. New tail-lamp detailing, a redesigned tailgate and a cleaner bumper give the sedan a more contemporary appearance. The i7 M70 additionally gets sportier exterior details and 21-inch wheels.
The biggest changes are inside the cabin. BMW has redesigned the dashboard and introduced its Panoramic Vision display, which projects information across the lower portion of the windscreen instead of using a conventional instrument cluster.
The centre console houses a new 17.9-inch touchscreen, while a separate 14.6-inch passenger display is also available. The system runs BMW's latest Operating System X.
Rear-seat passengers continue to get one of the i7's most distinctive features: a massive 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen. The rear seats also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions, while powered ottomans and powered doors add to the limousine-style experience.
The BMW i7 50 xDrive uses a 112.5kWh battery pack and produces 455hp and 600Nm. BMW claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.
The biggest improvement is the claimed range. The i7 50 xDrive can travel up to 728km on the WLTP cycle, which is 125km more than the outgoing version.
The more powerful i7 M70 xDrive produces 680hp and 1,015Nm, with the ability to deliver up to 1,100Nm in Sport Boost mode. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and has a claimed range of up to 686km.
The new i7 supports DC fast charging at up to 250kW. BMW claims that the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 28 minutes using a suitable high-power DC charger.
A 10-minute DC charging session can add up to approximately 235km of claimed range, depending on charging conditions. The car also supports AC charging, with a 22kW AC charger taking around six hours for a full charge.
The i7 continues to focus heavily on passenger comfort, but the facelift also offers strong performance. The i7 50 xDrive's dual-motor setup delivers its power smoothly, making the large luxury sedan quick without compromising its relaxed driving character.
The suspension and high-profile tyres help isolate occupants from broken road surfaces. The updated i7 is therefore designed to work both as a chauffeur-driven luxury sedan and as a powerful electric car for owners who prefer to drive themselves.
With the facelift, BMW has strengthened the i7's combination of electric performance, long-distance range and rear-seat luxury. The locally assembled i7 50 xDrive M Sport at ₹1.95 crore sits alongside the petrol-powered 740 at the same introductory price, while the M70 provides significantly higher performance at ₹2.65 crore.
Deliveries of the new BMW 7 Series and i7 range are scheduled to begin from October 2026.
