BYD'a premium cars automotive brand, Denza, is preparing to enter the Indian luxury vehicle market, with its debut reportedly scheduled for November 13, 2026. The Chinese automaker is looking to expand beyond its existing BYD-branded electric cars by introducing a separate luxury brand focused on premium design, advanced technology and high-performance electric mobility.
Denza's entry could bring two distinctive vehicles to India: the Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Denza Z9 GT electric shooting brake. While the D9 is expected to target chauffeur-driven customers and families seeking a premium seven-seat vehicle, the Z9 GT could appeal to buyers looking for sports-car-like performance combined with luxury and practicality.
BYD has already teased Denza's arrival through its Indian social media presence. However, the November 13 debut date, final model lineup, India-specific specifications and prices should be treated as unconfirmed until the company officially announces them.
Reported debut date: November 13, 2026
Parent company: BYD
Expected first models: Denza D9 and Denza Z9 GT
Brand positioning: Premium and luxury electric mobility
Expected D9 price: Around ₹90 lakh to ₹1 crore
Expected Z9 GT price: Around ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore
Market strategy: Separate premium positioning above BYD's existing range
Official India prices: Yet to be announced
Denza is BYD's premium automotive brand, established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz Group. BYD subsequently became the sole owner of the brand in 2024.
Denza combines electric vehicle technology with premium interiors, advanced driver assistance systems and distinctive vehicle designs. Its international lineup includes luxury MPVs, performance-oriented electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid models.
The brand's arrival in India would allow BYD to address a higher price segment without positioning all its premium offerings under the existing BYD name.
Denza is expected to target customers who prioritise comfort, performance, sophisticated interiors and advanced technology. Its vehicles could compete with premium electric MPVs and luxury cars from established international manufacturers.
The Denza D9 is expected to be one of the main attractions of the brand's Indian debut. This large luxury MPV focuses on passenger comfort, particularly for occupants travelling in the second row.
The international-specification D9 measures approximately 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,920 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. These dimensions provide a spacious cabin and substantial room for three rows of seating.
The electric version sold internationally is available with different powertrain configurations depending on the market. The expected Indian version could feature a battery pack of around 103 kWh, although the final battery specification and performance figures remain unconfirmed.
The D9's expected equipment highlights include electrically adjustable second-row captain's chairs, heating, ventilation, massage functions, premium upholstery, a large infotainment display and a multi-speaker audio system.
If launched at the expected price, the D9 could compete with premium MPVs such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. Its final market positioning will depend on the India-spec equipment, battery range, charging capabilities and pricing announced by BYD.
The Denza Z9 GT is expected to offer a different approach to luxury mobility. Instead of a conventional SUV or sedan, it uses a low-slung shooting-brake design that combines a sporty silhouette with a practical rear cargo area.
The international electric version features a three-motor powertrain, with reported outputs varying by market and specification. Certain versions produce more than 1,100 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 2.7 seconds.
Its technology package can include rear-wheel steering, advanced chassis control, sophisticated driver assistance systems and a premium multi-screen cabin.
Rear-wheel steering is particularly notable because it can improve manoeuvrability in tight spaces while helping the vehicle remain stable at higher speeds. Selected international configurations also offer specialised manoeuvring functions.
The Z9 GT is expected to sit in a significantly higher price bracket than the D9. Its estimated Indian pricing of ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore would position it against premium electric performance cars. These figures are estimates, not confirmed ex-showroom prices.

Denza's arrival would give BYD an opportunity to expand into the luxury segment while maintaining a distinction between its existing electric cars and its premium offerings.
The Indian market already has established players in the luxury MPV and premium EV categories. However, buyers are increasingly considering electric vehicles that combine long-distance capability, modern interiors and advanced technology.
Denza could differentiate itself through its Blade Battery technology, premium cabin equipment and high-performance electric powertrains. The D9 would focus on passenger comfort, while the Z9 GT would highlight performance and advanced vehicle technology.
The brand's success will depend on more than its international specifications. Pricing, charging infrastructure, service support, spare-part availability and customer confidence will all influence its prospects in India.
