Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition Gets a Fresh Design

Mahindra is preparing an updated version of its sporty electric SUV, the BE 6 Formula E Edition, bringing a noticeably different design approach to the special-edition model. The new iteration continues to celebrate Mahindra’s involvement in the Formula E championship while adopting styling elements that are much closer to the standard BE 6.

The Formula E Edition was originally introduced in November 2025, alongside Mahindra’s M12Electro Formula E race car. Unlike the regular BE 6, the first special edition featured a distinctive front-end design inspired by the Rall-E Concept.

New Design Brings the BE 6 Look

The upcoming BE 6 Formula E Edition appears to move away from the unconventional styling of its predecessor. The teaser suggests that the new model will receive the C-shaped LED DRLs associated with the standard BE 6, along with slimmer LED headlights.

The front bumper is also expected to follow a more conventional design, with integrated fog lights replacing some of the more distinctive elements seen on the previous Formula E Edition.

The first-generation Formula E Edition was restricted to 999 units and was available in FE2 and FE3 trims. The updated version is expected to retain several motorsport-inspired exterior details to distinguish it from the standard SUV.

Formula E Styling Details Continue

The teaser vehicle is finished in Tango Red, although Mahindra could introduce additional colour choices when the updated edition is officially revealed.

Formula E-specific design elements are expected to remain, including:

  • 12-stripe Formula E-themed body decals
  • Formula E badges on the front fenders
  • Formula E-themed roof graphics
  • Black-finished alloy wheels
  • Firestorm Orange brake callipers

These details should help the special edition maintain its motorsport-inspired identity despite adopting the standard BE 6's newer design language.

Interior Could Get Formula E-Specific Touches

The cabin is expected to continue with the Firestorm Orange theme used on the earlier model. Formula E branding could appear on the dashboard, while other motorsport-inspired elements may include FIA-branded seat belts, orange detailing on the steering wheel and door straps, and a dedicated race-style cover for the start/stop button.

A special plaque featuring FIA and Formula E branding is also expected to be carried over.

Mahindra could additionally offer a unique Formula E digital startup animation and a motorsport-inspired EV sound profile, similar to the previous edition.

Two Screens or the New Triple-Screen Layout?

One of the biggest unanswered questions concerns the dashboard.

The earlier BE 6 Formula E Edition featured a dual-screen dashboard with a physical separation between the driver and co-driver displays. However, Mahindra has since introduced the newer triple-screen setup on the BE 6 SportEQ.

It remains unclear whether the updated Formula E Edition will retain the older dual-screen arrangement or receive the newer triple-screen dashboard without the physical separation.

Powertrain Could Remain Unchanged

The previous Formula E Edition was offered with a 79kWh battery pack paired with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 282bhp. It supported DC fast charging at rates of up to 180kW.

Mahindra has yet to confirm whether the updated edition will retain this powertrain configuration.

The earlier FE3 trim also received several exclusive features, including adaptive suspension, R20 alloy wheels and night-train carpet lamps, while most other equipment was shared between the FE2 and FE3 variants. Similar differentiation between the trims could be maintained for the new model.

Overall, the updated Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition appears to combine the standard BE 6's more familiar styling with exclusive Formula E-inspired design and interior details, creating a special edition that looks considerably more integrated with Mahindra's current electric SUV family.
