Mercedes-Benz is preparing to expand its electric SUV portfolio in India with the new GLC Electric. The luxury electric SUV is expected to open bookings in India in October 2026, followed by its market launch towards the end of the year.

However, the exact booking and launch dates have not been officially confirmed by Mercedes-Benz India. Current industry listings place the India launch around November 2026, making a late-2026 arrival likely.

The upcoming GLC Electric will bring Mercedes-Benz's latest electric-vehicle technology, a completely new interior and a more advanced digital experience to India's premium EV segment.

Mercedes GLC Electric: What to Expect

The new GLC Electric is based on Mercedes-Benz's dedicated MB.EA electric vehicle architecture and uses an 800V electrical system. Globally, Mercedes-Benz offers the electric GLC in multiple configurations, including the GLC 250 Electric and GLC 300 4MATIC Electric.

The company claims a WLTP range of up to 650 km for the GLC 250 Electric, while the GLC 300 4MATIC Electric offers up to 616 km on a single charge.

Range will be one of the major highlights of the upcoming electric SUV. Mercedes-Benz currently claims up to 650 km of WLTP range for the GLC 250 Electric and up to 616 km for the GLC 300 4MATIC Electric.

The 800V electrical architecture also enables rapid charging. Mercedes-Benz says the GLC 250 Electric can add up to 265 km of range in around 10 minutes, while the GLC 300 4MATIC Electric can add around 255 km in the same period under suitable charging conditions.

Actual range and charging performance in India could vary depending on the final India-spec version, charging infrastructure, temperature and driving conditions.

New Mercedes GLC Electric Interior

The cabin is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the new GLC Electric. Mercedes-Benz offers an optional MBUX Hyperscreen, measuring around 99.3 cm, integrating the infotainment and digital functions into a large panoramic display setup.

The system runs on Mercedes-Benz's new MB.OS operating system and supports over-the-air software updates.

The SUV also features advanced driver-assistance technology under Mercedes-Benz's MB.DRIVE system. Depending on the specification and optional packages, the vehicle can offer features supporting SAE Level 2 assisted driving.

Exterior Design

The Mercedes GLC Electric gets a distinctive new design while retaining the familiar SUV proportions of the GLC family.

Key design elements include an illuminated grille, modern LED lighting and a more aerodynamic body. Mercedes-Benz has also focused on improving aerodynamic efficiency to help maximise electric range.

The new-generation electric GLC has a claimed drag coefficient of around 0.26, supporting its efficiency-focused design.

Performance and Practicality

The global GLC Electric range includes both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Mercedes-Benz has also engineered the SUV for improved comfort and handling, with optional AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering available on global versions.

The SUV offers a 128-litre front trunk, while luggage capacity is rated at up to 570 litres, increasing to around 1,740 litres with the rear seats folded.

Expected Price in India

Mercedes-Benz has not announced the India-spec GLC Electric's official price yet.

Current Indian automotive listings estimate the model at around ₹60 lakh to ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom), although the final price could vary significantly depending on the variant, import/local-assembly strategy and equipment.

Rivals

Once launched, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to compete with premium electric SUVs such as the BMW iX3 and other upcoming luxury EVs in the segment.

Mercedes GLC Electric India Launch: What Next?

Mercedes-Benz is expected to reveal more details about the India-spec model closer to its market introduction. If bookings begin in October 2026 as currently expected, the company could announce the final variant, pricing and equipment shortly before the launch.

For now, the GLC Electric remains an upcoming Mercedes-Benz EV for India, with a likely launch window towards the end of 2026.
