MG Tomahawk EV Teased Again With New Design Details

JSW MG Motor India has released another teaser of its upcoming electric SUV, revealing additional styling details while offering what appears to be a strong hint about the model's final name. The latest video prominently features the Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk, a World War II-era fighter aircraft, alongside the upcoming SUV.

The aircraft reference is particularly significant because MG recently filed the Hector Tomahawk trademark in India. The combination of the trademark and the repeated appearance of the Tomahawk aircraft suggests that the upcoming electric SUV could officially be introduced as the MG Hector Tomahawk EV.

Tomahawk Reference Appears Deliberate

MG has previously followed a naming strategy built around names with British associations, including Hector, Gloster, Windsor and Comet. The latest teaser appears to continue this approach.

Rather than featuring a modern fighter aircraft or the Tomahawk cruise missile, MG has chosen the Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk, a single-engine fighter developed by Curtiss-Wright in the late 1930s and used extensively by British Commonwealth forces during the Second World War.

The aircraft is shown several times inside a hangar next to the SUV. Given the recent Hector Tomahawk trademark filing, its inclusion appears to be a deliberate naming clue.

SUV Design Comes Into Focus

The latest teaser provides a clearer view of MG's upcoming three-row electric SUV, although much of the vehicle remains concealed by shadows.

The SUV appears to feature a tall and upright silhouette, prominent wheel arches and roof rails, giving it a substantial road presence and reinforcing its family-oriented positioning.

The teaser also reveals distinctive pixel-inspired LED lighting at both ends. At the front, the lighting signature is accompanied by a charging port integrated into the front fender, confirming that the new model will be powered entirely by electricity at launch.

MG has also used the line "One That Runs Electric", further confirming its battery-electric powertrain.

Seven-Seat Layout Confirmed

One of the most important revelations comes from an overhead view of the cabin. The image clearly shows a three-row seating arrangement, supporting expectations that the India-spec SUV will be offered as a seven-seater.

Other teaser messages, including "One That's Bigger Than Anyone Imagined" and "One That Makes Room For More", point towards a spacious interior and a strong focus on family-oriented practicality.

First Production Model Based on MG's ADAPT Platform

The upcoming SUV will be the first production vehicle based on MG's ADAPT architecture. The modular platform has been developed to accommodate several types of electrified powertrains, including battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, strong-hybrid and range-extender configurations.

However, MG has confirmed that the first production model using the platform will be launched as a pure battery-electric vehicle.

The India-spec SUV is expected to share its underlying design with the globally available Wuling Starlight 560, while receiving market-specific styling, equipment and tuning for India.

Previous spy images have already indicated features such as slim LED DRLs, vertically positioned headlamp units, connected LED tail lamps and a tall SUV profile.

Expected Electric Powertrain

Based on information available so far, the upcoming EV is expected to use a front-mounted electric motor producing around 204 PS and 310 Nm.

Power could come from a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack, while the claimed range is expected to be around 530km under the CLTC cycle. Final India-specific specifications and range figures will be confirmed by MG closer to the launch.

A plug-in hybrid derivative is also expected to arrive at a later stage, using the same ADAPT architecture.

MG's New Electric Flagship Takes Shape

With the latest teaser placing such strong emphasis on the Tomahawk fighter aircraft, the possibility of the Hector Tomahawk EV name appears increasingly convincing.

The upcoming three-row electric SUV is expected to make its full debut later this month and could become an important new entrant in India's premium electric SUV space, where it is expected to compete with models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S.

If MG's teaser strategy is any indication, the company is positioning the new SUV around three key themes: distinctive design, generous cabin space and an all-electric powertrain.
