Toyota Glanza Facelift Launch Date Revealed

Toyota is preparing to give its premium hatchback, the Glanza, a significant update for the Indian market. The facelift is expected to make its debut on October 14, 2026, shortly after the launch of the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Since the Glanza and Baleno share their underlying platform, mechanical components and several features, the upcoming Toyota model is expected to receive many of the upgrades introduced with the latest Baleno facelift. However, Toyota is likely to retain some styling differences to give the Glanza its own identity.

New 1.2-Litre Three-Cylinder Petrol Engine Expected

One of the biggest changes could be under the bonnet. The current Glanza uses a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, but the facelift is expected to switch to the newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.

The engine is expected to produce around 83 HP and 112 Nm, with transmission choices likely to include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. A CNG version is also expected to continue, paired with a manual gearbox.

The newer engine is expected to offer improved fuel efficiency, although the three-cylinder configuration could deliver a different refinement and performance character compared with the outgoing four-cylinder unit.

Styling Updates Could Be Subtle

The Glanza facelift is unlikely to receive a completely redesigned body. Instead, Toyota is expected to focus on the front-end design.

Possible exterior changes include:

  • Revised front grille
  • Updated front bumper
  • Minor changes to the front fascia
  • Toyota-specific grille treatment
  • Existing LED lighting elements potentially carried forward
  • 16-inch alloy wheels expected to remain part of the package

Toyota is likely to maintain a visual distinction between the Glanza and Baleno despite their close mechanical relationship.

More Premium Features Inside

The cabin layout is expected to remain broadly similar to the current model, but Toyota could add several new convenience and safety features.

The expected feature list includes:

  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • Cooled wireless charging pad
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Updated infotainment and convenience features
  • Additional safety equipment

The addition of Level 2 ADAS could become one of the biggest upgrades for the Glanza, potentially bringing functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, automatic emergency braking and automatic high-beam assistance.

Glanza Facelift vs Baleno Facelift

The biggest question is how closely the new Glanza will follow the updated Baleno.

Mechanically, the two hatchbacks are expected to remain closely related. The new petrol engine, transmission choices and several cabin technologies are likely to be shared.

However, Toyota is expected to give the Glanza a different front grille and bumper design. The company could also retain its own lighting and alloy-wheel treatment to distinguish the car from its Maruti sibling.

The latest Baleno facelift has already introduced a new three-cylinder petrol engine, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and other technology upgrades, giving a strong indication of what Toyota's updated hatchback could receive.

Expected Price

The current Glanza is positioned in the premium hatchback segment, and the facelift could command a slight price increase because of its additional technology and equipment.

The current model's ex-showroom price range is around ₹6.73 lakh to ₹9.99 lakh, while the facelift is expected to be priced at a premium over the outgoing version. The final variant-wise pricing will be announced closer to the launch.

Competition

After its facelift, the Toyota Glanza will continue to compete in India's premium hatchback market against models such as:

The addition of ADAS, ventilated seats and a newer engine could make the Glanza more competitive in this segment.
