The Tata Curvv EV stands apart from conventional electric SUVs with a design that combines the upright stance of an SUV with the sweeping roofline of a coupe. It was introduced as Tata Motors’ first SUV-coupe, giving buyers a more distinctive alternative to traditional electric SUVs.

But striking design is only one part of the equation. For an electric SUV expected to handle city commutes, family trips, luggage and highway journeys, practicality matters just as much.

So, does the Tata Curvv EV’s sloping roof actually compromise everyday usability, or does it manage to combine style and practicality successfully?

These dimensions put the Curvv EV firmly in the mid-size SUV category, but its relatively low roofline gives it a different visual and spatial character from a conventional SUV.

What Makes the Curvv EV Different?

The biggest talking point is the roof.

That is important because the coupe styling could have resulted in a significantly smaller luggage area.

Instead, the Curvv EV retains enough boot capacity for everyday family requirements.

Is the Curvv EV Too Wide for City Driving?

At 1,810mm wide, the Curvv EV isn't a small urban car.

Does the Coupe Design Affect Visibility?

The sloping rear and sharply styled tailgate make the Curvv EV look distinctive, but the design reduces the amount of conventional rear glass and changes the driver's rearward view.

The answer depends on where passengers are sitting.

The rear is more complicated.

Adults of average height should have enough room, but taller passengers may notice the restricted headroom. The sloping roof and raised EV floor can become more noticeable during extended journeys.

The Curvv EV's ride is also described as composed at higher speeds, although it can feel somewhat firm at lower city speeds.

Therefore, it works well as a highway family car, but its rear-seat comfort isn't quite as universally accommodating as its exterior dimensions might suggest.

Does the Curvv EV Feel Like an SUV From Behind the Wheel?

Interestingly, yes.

Despite the coupe roofline, the Curvv EV retains a relatively high seating position and SUV-like proportions.

Its 4,310mm length and 1,810mm width give it a substantial road presence, while the 186mm ground clearance maintains some of the practicality expected from an SUV.

The design therefore doesn't turn the Curvv into a low-slung sports car.

Instead, it creates a vehicle that sits somewhere between the traditional SUV and coupe worlds.
